What we do

Leicestershire Museum Curatorial and Collections Management teams care for the county’s museum collections and make them accessible in many different ways.

We do this by supporting the service’s museums and heritage sites with displays, exhibitions and interpretation of these objects.

We also facilitate visits to the collections by students, researchers, heritage groups and members of the public for study and research.

We lend objects to other museums and organisations making them accessible to a wider audience.

Our collections are held at five different sites across the county. We have objects that range in size from tiny coins to large machinery, and some that are extremely fragile and sensitive to light or fluctuating humidity. We try to provide the most appropriate conditions for all of our collections.
